It boasts the 4,000-year-old ruins, enduring ancient forts, vibrant northern Shaanxi folklore, and an awe-inspiring ecological resurgence.
The historic Shimao Site, perched on the Loess Plateau, testifies to the extraordinary craftsmanship of prehistoric settlers. Archaeological research indicates the region was home to an advanced society predating the Central China's civilization, which originated in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River around 5,000 years ago.
Choi Heon-kuy from South Korea's Newspim, a member of a delegation that embarked on an immersive journey into Yulin, marveled at this site when he was shown around.
The Korean reporter said that this ancient society, often confined to pages in books, could be felt so vividly here.
At Chiniuwa Folk Culture Village, hillside cave dwellings preserve northern Shaanxi's agrarian heritage, while lively yangko dance invites visitors to experience dynamic local customs.
Mauro Salazar, a Mexican content creator, shared his excitement about how much fun he had participating in the yangko dance, and he loved the charm of waving colorful fans and parasols.
Yulin's transformation is most profound in the Mu Us Desert. Once a barren wasteland, it has been revitalized through the unwavering efforts of the Bulang River Women's Desert Control Militia, who planted trees and stabilized dunes since 1974.
Oskar Kupke, a German content creator, described how these sand-control heroines have breathed life into a lifeless wasteland and reshaped the desert, which is now teeming with green vegetation and wildlife.
The regenerated desert areas have also spurred economic development, including the flourishing Hengshan Sandy Apple Orchards, turning barren land into bountiful fields.
Yulin's experience in preventing and reversing desertification offers an inspiring model for addressing global environmental challenges.
Ancient relics, folklore, and ecological innovation converge in Yulin, where civilization endures, traditions thrive, and deserts bloom anew.
